Fremont County Fair Board Meetings and Important Dates
Schedule subject to change.


Saturday, July 24
7:00 a.m. - 4-H Horse Show check in will begin at Pathfinder Park.
8:30 a.m. - A ribbon cutting ceremony at Pathfinder Park will officially open the fair.
8:30 a.m. - 4-H Horse Show check in will close.
9:00 a.m. - 4-H Western Showmanship will begin at the Pathfinder Park Arena. The 4-H English Performance Class will follow showmanship.
9:00 a.m. - 4-H Building and grounds cleanup will begin. The Fremont County Cattlewomen will serve lunch to the cleanup crew.
6:00 p.m. - The Fremont County Fairs & Shows Association will host the annual Ranch Rodeo in the Royal Gorge Rodeo Arena.

Sunday, July 25
7:00 a.m. - Check in for the 4-H Horse Show will begin at Pathfinder Park.
7:30 a.m. - Check in for the 4-H Horse Show closes.
8:00 a.m. - The 4-H English Horse Showmanship competition will begin at the Pathfinder Park Arena. Western Horse Performance will follow showmanship. The riding portion of the 4-H Royalty comtest will begin upon completion of the Western riding competitions.
4:00 p.m. - 4-H Project General and Consumer Science, Cloverbud and Open Fair entries will be accepted at the 4-H Building.
6:00 p.m. - 4-H and Open Fair Check In will close.
6:00 p.m. - 4-H Building closes.

Monday, July 26
7:00 a.m. - 4-H General, Home Economics, Natural Resources and Gardening Check In will begin at the 4-H Building. The 4-H Building will be closed to the public.
8:30 a.m. - 4-H Project Check In will close.
9:00 a.m. - 4-H interview judging begins
5:00 p.m. - Open Fair entries will be accepted at the 4-H Building.
7:00 p.m. - Open Fair Check In will close. 4-H Building closes.


Tuesday, July 27
7:00 a.m. - Open, Golden Age, Homemade Wine and Novice Youth entries will be accepted at the 4-H Building.
8:00 a.m. - 4-H Clothing, Heritage Arts Check In will begin at the Evangelical Free Church.
8:30 a.m. - Clothing & Heritage Arts judging will begin at the Evangelical Free Church. No more entries will be accepted.
9:00 a.m. - 4-H Building opens to the public. Open judging begins at the 4-H Building. Judging is open to the public.
10:00 a.m. - 2011 4-H Royalty interview and modeling contests will be held on the entertainment stage.
1:00 p.m. - 4-H Fashion Revue Check In will begin at the Evangelical Free Church.
1:30 p.m. - Fashion Revue judging will begin at the Evangelical Free Church.
5:30 p.m. - Homemade wine will be judged at the Winery at the Holy Cross Abbey.
7:30 p.m. - 4-H Fashion Revue & Talent Show will be held at the Evangelical Free Church. This event is open to the public.
10:00 p.m. - 4-H Building closes.

Wednesday, July 28
8:00 a.m. - 4-H Building opens to the public.
9:00 a.m. - 4-H Dog Show begins at Rudd Park. This event is open to the public.
2:00 p.m. - 4-H Rabbit Check In will begin in the Small Animal Barn.
4:00 p.m. - 4-H Poultry Check In will start in the Small Animal Barn.
4:30 p.m. - 4-H Horse Show check in will begin at Pathfinder Park.
5:30 p.m. - Horse Show Check In ends.
6:00 p.m. - 2011 4-H Royalty will be announced prior to the beginning of 4-H speed events.
6:00 p.m. - 4-H Horse Speed Events begin at Pathfinder Park. This event is open to the public.
7:00 p.m. - 4-H Rabbit & Poultry check in ends
10:00 p.m. - 4-H Building closes

Thursday, July 29
Got Milk? Day

8:00 a.m. - Building opens to the public.
8:00 a.m. - 4-H Rabbit judging starts in the Entertainment Tent. Rabbit Showmanship will follow.
9:00 a.m. - Livestock Check In begins. Scales will not be open to exhibitors.
11:00 a.m. - 4-H Dairy Goat judging will begin in the Show Tent. Dairy Goat Showmanship will follow.
1:00 p.m. - 4-H Dairy Cattle judging will start in the Show Tent.
4-H Poultry judging will begin in the Entertainment Tent. Poultry Showmanship will follow.
2:00 p.m. - Butter making and ice cream scoop stacking contests will be held in the Entertainment Tent along with other Dairy Day activities. The butter making contest is open to children 12 and under. Events will wrap up at 4 p.m.
4:30 p.m. - Livestock weigh in will begin with Market Goats, followed by Market Sheep, Market Beef and then Market Swine.
6:30 p.m. - 4-H Rocket Launch will start at Pathfinder Park. This event is open to the public.
10 p.m. - 4-H Building closes.

Kids’ and Seniors’ Day
Friday July 30

7:30 a.m. - In honor of Senior Citizens’ Day a complimentary breakfast of biscuits and gravy will be served to residents of long-term care facilities and individuals over the age of 65. The breakfast sponsored by the Beta Zeta Sorority and the Fremont County Fair Board is by invitation only and will be offered on a first served basis. 4-H Council members will be available to visit with seniors and offer tours of the fair.
9:00 a.m. - Entries for Open Guinea Pig Show will be accepted in the Entertainment Tent.
Open Gardening entries will be accepted in the 4-H Building
10:00 a.m. - Kids’ Day Activities will begin at the Fair Grounds. Children will have the opportunity to visit educational booths and participate in games and other activities. For details and a full list of activities visit the fair’s Web site at www.fremontcountyfair.com.
9:30 a.m. - Pee-Wee Rabbit Show Check-In. (Open to all children under 8 years of age)
10:00 a.m. - Pee-Wee Rabbit Show Begins (Sponsored by Beaver Park Ag 4-H Club)
10:00 a.m. - Jeri Fry will give a demonstration on making gingerbread houses. Other presentations being offered will include tips for entering floriculture by Mary Richardson, water color painting by George Douthit and Dutch oven cooking by Tomalee Young. Times for these presentations are to be announced.
10:30 a.m. - Open Guinea Pig Show Check In will close.
1:30 p.m. - Guinea Pig judging will start in the Entertainment Tent.
Noon - Open Gardening Show Check In will close.
Noon “Lunch in a Jiffy”, which consists of either a hot dog or a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, chips, cookie and a drink will also be available for purchase. Advance orders for “Lunch in a Jiffy” will be $2.00 each. Lunches ordered at the Fair will cost $2.50 each. Advanced orders may be placed by calling the Extension Office at 276-7390 by Thursday, July 29.
1:00 p.m. - Open Gardening judging will start in the 4-H Building. Judging is open to the public.
4:00 p.m. - 4-H Market Swine Show will begin in the Show Tent
10:00 p.m. - 4-H Building closes to the public.

Saturday, July 31
TBA - Ralph Kunselman will speak on bee keeping.
8:00 a.m.
- 4-H Building opens to the public. 4-H Sheep judging will begin in the Show Tent. Sheep showmanship will follow.
9:00 a.m. - Open Floriculture entries will be accepted in the 4-H Building.
9:00 a.m. - A garden tractor and ATV pull will begin in the Royal Gorge Rodeo Arena. This event is free to attend and open to the public.
10:00 a.m. - Dress a Bunny contest ~ Entertainment Tent
10:00 a.m. - Rhonda Batson of Design U-R Memories will give a demonstration on scrapbooking and preserving those fair memories.
Noon - Floriculture Check In will close.
4-H Goat Showmanship will start in the Show Tent. The 4-H Breeding Goat and Market Goat shows will follow.
1:00 p.m. - Floriculture judging will begin in the 4-H Building. Judging is open to the public.
2:00 p.m. - An ice cream social will be held on the 4-H Building Patio. This event is sponsored by the Fremont County 4-H Council.
4:30 p.m. - 4-H Breeding Beef Show will begin in the Show Tent. 4-H Market Beef Judging will begin within 30 minutes of the completion of the breeding beef judging. Beef Showmanship will follow the Market Beef Show.
10:00 p.m. - 4-H Building closes to the public.

Buyers’ Day
Sunday, August 1

7:30 a.m. - 4-H Building opens to the public.
Cowboy Church will start in the Show Tent. This event is open to the public
9:00 a.m. - The 4-H Master Showmanship Competition will begin in the Show Tent. During this competition the fair’s top 4-H showmen show sheep, pigs, goats, beef, dairy cattle and horses for the title of Master Showman.
9:00 a.m. - The Reverse Showmanship Competition will follow Master Showmanship. In this competition, the parents of 4-Hers competing in Master Showmanship will have the opportunity to prove their showmanship skills.
Noon - The Parade of Champions Award Ceremony will be held in the Grandstands.
3:00 p.m. - The Fremont Fairs and Shows Association Barbeque will be held in the Entertainment Tent.
4:00 p.m. - The 4-H Family of the Year and other special awards will be presented in the Show Tent.
4:30 p.m. - The 4-H Market Livestock Sale will begin in the Show Tent.
6:00 p.m. - Open and 4-H Fair Exhibits will be released. Open premiums will awarded when exhibits are checked out.
8:00 p.m. - 4-H Building closes.

Monday, August 2
8:00 a.m. - Clean-up
Release of Open Exhibits
Release of 4-H Exhibits
10:00 a.m. - Exhibit release closed
Noon - Clean-up ends

Friday, August 7
